Whitstable Volunteer Centre has recently been awarded funding from Awards for All to set up a support and information Network for anyone that’s involved with managing or supervising volunteers, whether paid or unpaid.

The funding is for a year and the intention is that the Network members will meet 4 times a year.

The Network meetings will be in 2 parts:

1 – A more formal training element focusing on issues to do with volunteering e.g. dealing with difficult volunteers, vetting volunteers, involving vulnerable volunteers etc. Ideally the ideas for the training element should come from the Network members.
2 – A more informal element where people will get an opportunity to discuss issues and concerns and receive advice and support from other members of the Network. This will also be an opportunity to share best practice.

Whitstable Volunteer Centre also received money to produce a quarterly factsheet on volunteering issues to compliment the Network and to develop a resource library. Organisations will be able to borrow books from the library on a short term basis.
