Why involve volunteers?

Volunteers are flexible, versatile, and can bring enthusiasm and energy, making a real difference to the lives of other people.

What we can offer:

• We can help you to recruit volunteers
• We can upload your volunteering opportunities to the national volunteering database, www.do-it.org.uk
• We can offer a one-to-one health check to help ensure that your volunteer policies and procedures comply with legislation and best practice.
• We can offer training or guidance on all aspects of volunteer management
• We can help you to clarify volunteer roles within your organisation, or to identify new ways that volunteers could help you

Health checks, training, guidance and help with volunteer roles are available to any volunteer-involving organisation, including those from the public, private, voluntary and community sectors.

Volunteer recruitment services are available to charities, non-profit-making organisations and statutory bodies. Other types of organisation may be able to access these services for projects that have the direct benefit of the community, environment and other people as their core aim.

What we expect:

• That you contact new volunteers we refer to you promptly, and certainly within ten working days
• Volunteers to be given a clearly defined role
  
• Volunteer selection procedures to be open and inclusive
• Appropriate support and training for volunteers
  
• Reimbursement of out of pocket expenses for volunteers
